Oily-Skin

Oily Skin

Oily-skin is shiny, thick and dull colored. Often a chronically oily skin has coarse pores and pimples and other embarrassing blemishes. It is prone to blackheads. In this type of skin, the oil producing sebaceous glands are overactive and produce more oil than is needed. The pores are enlarged and the skin has a coarse look.

Oily-Skin has:

Large visible pores Frequent acne (black heads and white heads) Visible shine, especially mid-day Frequent acne on other areas such as your back and chest The good news for this skin type is that it is generally slower to show fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration, in other words this type of skin ages slower than the other skin types. Because of the hormonal shifts of adolescence, oily skin is common in teenagers, but it can occur at any age. In general, skin tends to become dryer with age. The flow of sebum or oil increases during adolescence and starts decreasing with age. During pregnancy and menopause, hormonal imbalances can also upset the oil balance and increase the activity of sebaceous glands.

How to exfoliate the skin of your body

Moisten your face with water before exfoliating. Use a loofah, exfoliating gloves or a synthetic scrubbing sponge designed for the face. Apply an exfoliating cleanser specially designed for faces to the loofah or sponge. Some exfoliating cleansers contain up to 25 percent pumice, and these should never be used on the face. Rub your face with the loofah or sponge using circular motions. Avoid scrubbing under the eyes, because the skin there is thin and easily damaged. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water. Apply a moisturizer containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids. These acids will continue the exfoliating process, because acids cause additional dead skin cells to slough off. Your skin may tingle after using alpha or beta hydroxy acids. This is normal and should go away after 15 minutes.

For your face you can try an exfoliating mask. Make one by mashing up a papaya and smearing it on your face. The enzymes help exfoliate the skin. Rinse off thoroughly after 15 minutes.
